Beatles Fan? {1964...TheTribute}

Most of you may not know what I do exactly for work so here's a little peek into what I do:  I'm the marketing assistant for Celebrity Attractions which is a company that presents Broadway touring musicals in seven cities throughout the Southwest.  Tulsa is one of our largest markets.  I am also the Social Media Coordinator so I do all the "tweeting," "updating," and coordinating of all promotions on our sites.    

I want to use my blog as purely a personal thing and not throw a lot of work related stuff in there.  But, for special things, I'll definitely make an exception.

Artist Spotlight & Summer Playlist {Song #10: Captivated by Shawn McDonald}

On Monday, June 27th, I got to see Shawn McDonald at KXOJ's Riverwalk Concert Series in Jenks.  It was a great concert and Shawn's passion is felt in each of his songs which are all written by himself.  My friend and college partner-in-crime, Patti works for KXOJ doing promotions so I stuck around afterwards to help "close up shop"...and yes, I admit, to meet Shawn.

We got to chat with him for a little and talk about different things like having a "community" around you and the fact you can spot a musician a mile a way, skinny jeans and all.  Ha.  Shawn was a really genuine guy and super nice.  Through working with bands at Falls Creek and being around various musicians in general, Shawn's definitely one of my favorites.

One of my favorite songs that Shawn played Monday night was actually the only one I videoed taped.  It was really good acoustically but the album version is definitely download-worthy.  I hope you enjoy Captivated by Shawn McDonald as much as I do!

Summer Playlist {Song #9: Something In The Water}

So, I've been M.I.A. for awhile and I'm not talking "Paper Planes" MIA, haha. Yes, lame joke.  Anyways, I haven't forgotten about the rest of my summer playlist which I totally meant to have done by now, but oh well, it's still summer so it's ok.

If any of you are the least bit familiar with Hillsong United, you'll know this next artist if not for her name, but definitely for her voice.  She has written some awesome worship songs that can be found on a number of Hillsong albums and her vocal abilities are fantastic.  So, when I saw her album, I didn't have second thoughts about buying it.  This song I've chosen for my Summa Playlist is by far my favorite on her album and a super duper choice for any playlist in my opinion.   Therefore, I give you Something In The Water by Brooke Fraser.

Artist Spotlight: {JT Hodges}

About two weeks ago, my co-worker and I went to the KVOO station and had the opportunity to meet an up-and-coming country music artist, JT Hodges.  We also got to hear him play a few of his songs most of which were written by him.  I was very impressed with him and thought about sneaking a sampler CD out, haha.

JT's parents are both exceptionally talented musicians: father studied at Juilliard as a concert pianist and his mother had a record label.  His father opened up the first multi-track recording studio in Ft. Worth, TX where he spent a lot of time at while growing up.  I won't recount his entire life-story but you can click here to learn more.

I would totally go see him again if he comes through Tulsa again.  Be on the lookout for this guy - they're saying he's the next Gary Allan or Keith Urban!

Oh, and as you can see below, he's really attractive. And he has stunning blue eyes.

{Erica & Eric 6.4.11}

This past weekend, I had the absolute privilege of being a part of one of my best friends from college wedding in Plano, TX.  Erica came into my life at the beginning of my Senior year in college as one of my g-littles in the sorority we were a part of.  Our "phamily," as we call it, became extremely close during that year and really encouraged each other in our walks with the Lord.

It was such a fun weekend with Erica and all the girls in the wedding & house party.  We had a yummy dinner at Buca di Beppo.

Erica asked me to "assist" her during the wedding - kind of like a "lady in waiting" is how I termed it, hehe.  She is such a huge blessing in my life and I was so excited to be a part of her wedding.

Afterwards, a bunch of us OSU Alums hung out.  It was so good seeing old friends and making new ones!

Erica & Eric - I am SO happy for you both!  I pray that the Lord blesses this new chapter you are beginning together as husband and wife.  I love you both!
