Summer Playlist {Song #13: Go Do}

So, every playlist has to have something with a little bit of a funky maybe even weird beat.  That's where my thoughts were when I was thinking about this song.  If you like {or ever heard of} Sigur Rós, you will like this song.  FUN FACT: This artist was in FACT a part of Sigur Rós for nine years. Woot!

Eh hem.

But unlike Sigur Rós, this song is in English.  This song isn't completely unheard of though.  It's been used in the Ford Explorer commercial, in the movie The Social Network and at least one other movie in the credits {which is where I "Shazaamed" it and first discovered this song}.  It'll spice up your Summer Playlist, that's for sure.  I hope you enjoy "Go Do" by Jónsi.  {Click here for the official video - they disabled the option to embed it, argh!}

P.S. You can stream the whole album with "Go Do" on Jónsi's website

Summer Playlist {Song #12: Shot In The Dark}

It's not very often that I buy an entire album without listening to more than one song but with Augustana's new self-titled cd, I'd only heard Steal Your Heart before I bought the album.  I absolutely loved their albums "All The Stars And Boulevards" and "Can't Love, Can't Hurt" which include the favorites: Boston, Sweet and Low, and Stars and Boulevards.  I will say that their newest cd has a completely different sound, but it's still really good.  Some of my friends say this album has a Kings of Leon feel.  I think it's a bit "grungier" feel - more of a U2 feel in a way.

There's no official video for Song #12 on my Summer Playlist but here's a live performance that I'll let Jimmy Kimmel introduce.  You're welcome Jimmy.

Summer Playlist {Song #11: Moth's Wings}

So, I'm super excited to share Song #11 on my Summer Playlist!  I first fell in love with Passion Pit and their song Sleepyhead when I downloaded a mix of songs from the Urban Outfitters blog.  For all you SYTYCD fans, Phillip Chbeeb and friends choreographed an awesome routine {called The Sleep Sweepers} to that song which you should totally go check out.

I also got to see them with Muse back in late October and it was an awesome show!
AK & I - We finally made it to the right seats, hehe
You may have heard Passion Pit's song that has made it on my Summer Playlist on SYTYCD recently when five of the top 20 performed an AMAZING contemporary routine choreographed by Travis Wall.  So instead of an official video to Passion Pit's Moth's Wings (which there is none), I will leave you with the video of the performance.  Enjoy!

Beatles Fan? {1964...TheTribute}

Most of you may not know what I do exactly for work so here's a little peek into what I do:  I'm the marketing assistant for Celebrity Attractions which is a company that presents Broadway touring musicals in seven cities throughout the Southwest.  Tulsa is one of our largest markets.  I am also the Social Media Coordinator so I do all the "tweeting," "updating," and coordinating of all promotions on our sites.

I want to use my blog as purely a personal thing and not throw a lot of work related stuff in there.  But, for special things, I'll definitely make an exception.

Saturday, July 16th at 8pm

Artist Spotlight & Summer Playlist {Song #10: Captivated by Shawn McDonald}

On Monday, June 27th, I got to see Shawn McDonald at KXOJ's Riverwalk Concert Series in Jenks.  It was a great concert and Shawn's passion is felt in each of his songs which are all written by himself.  My friend and college partner-in-crime, Patti works for KXOJ doing promotions so I stuck around afterwards to help "close up shop"...and yes, I admit, to meet Shawn.

We got to chat with him for a little and talk about different things like having a "community" around you and the fact you can spot a musician a mile a way, skinny jeans and all.  Ha.  Shawn was a really genuine guy and super nice.  Through working with bands at Falls Creek and being around various musicians in general, Shawn's definitely one of my favorites.

One of my favorite songs that Shawn played Monday night was actually the only one I videoed taped.  It was really good acoustically but the album version is definitely download-worthy.  I hope you enjoy Captivated by Shawn McDonald as much as I do!

There's no "official video" but below is what I taped of the song and click here to hear the album version of the song.
